Live Local, Inc. Teams Up With Downtown Troy Business Improvement District to Celebrate Local Food, Local Artisans and the Collar City.
Troy, NY – Live Local, Inc. organizer of the popular Bacon Fest NY 2012, is partnering with the Downtown Troy Business Improvement District (Troy BID) to produce what may be most ambitious pork festival in the state of NY. The Troy Pig Out, entering into it’s sixth year, features BBQ from all over the state, in conjunction with a Kansas City BBQ Competition where the winner is crowned the New York State Grand Champion of BBQ.
On Saturday July 13 – Sunday, July 14th, at the Riverfront Park in Downtown Troy, the 2013 Troy Pig Out and Bacon Fest NY will feature all of the BBQ that festival goers have come to love, in addition to ‘Bacon Alley’, a dedicated portion of festival grounds to hail the accomplishments of chefs, artisans and craftsman from around the region as they pay homage to the glory of bacon.
“The Troy Pig Out, for the past 5 years, has celebrated everything BBQ” said Elizabeth Young, Downtown Troy Business Improvement District Director and festival organizer “Adding bacon just made sense – because really, what isn’t better with bacon?”
Live Local, Inc. is excited and honored to partner with Troy BID, who brings years of large scale event planning and management experience to the table. After the overwhelming popularity of last year’s Bacon Fest NY, with the number of festival attendees 300% over what was estimated, event founders knew that they needed ramp up this year’s preparations… and Troy BID was the perfect organization to help do so.
“More vendors, check…free admission, check…beer with the food, check…we listened to what people wanted us to improve upon from last year’s event and believe that the Pig Out partnership answers those challenges.” said Brian Cook, President of Live Life Local, Inc..
By combining these two well known food festivals, Live Local, Inc. and Troy BID will be able to grow both celebrations in a way that will offer attendees a special two day opportunity to sample more of the region’s best food, craftsmanship and live entertainment. Most importantly, the 2013 Troy Pig Out and Bacon Fest NY will shine a spotlight upon Downtown Troy, highlighting it as the location to celebrate local culture and upscale food.
In addition to a weekend full of live local entertainment and delicious food, Saturday’s line-up of events includes the People’s Choice St. Louis Rib Competition and a fireworks display over the Hudson River, reserving Sunday for the “main event” – the NYS BBQ Grand Championship, a contest between professional BBQ teams from all over the U.S. and Canada.
